5th/6th grades

Travel – Badgers division

This program is a great way to introduce field hockey to your player, get ready for middle school teams, and to play with Cherry Hill players against nearby towns. South Jersey Field Hockey league is a competitive travel league and will really help raise your player’s game by playing for a longer season than the middle schools. Players will learn fundamentals of the sport, field positioning, improve stick skills, plus sportsmanship, teamwork, and make new friends around Cherry Hill! There is no tryout for this team!

8 games are played over 6 weeks: 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/16, 10/23. Sundays at the opponent’s field in South Jersey or home at one of the Cherry Hill High Schools. We play games on turf and grass, and will have at least one home game.

There is also a Play for a Cause League tournament over Columbus Day Weekend, 10/8 and 9 at the Gloucester Twp turf fields. Playoffs are the weekend of 10/29 and 30 for the top 8 teams.

Practices start in mid-August at Cherry Hill HS East or West, on Tuesdays and Thursdays TBD.

The registration fee for 5th/6th is $160 per player. Payment may be made in three installments, registration, 8/1 and 9/1.

Included in registration is a reversible team pinnie for practices, and uniform (new reversible team jersey, skirt, and socks) for games.

Players should have their own field hockey stick. Players this age will likely need a 34″ – 36″ stick, depending on height. Stick should be hip height. Visit HerSport in Cherry Hill for help in picking the right stick for your player or use the guideline below:

All players will also need a mouthguard, cleats and shinguards. Eye protection (goggles) is optional, but highly recommended for safety while playing. (It is required for middle school team play, but not for this league.)

Volunteers are highly needed for this age division! Please indicate if you can coach while registering.

Registration is held May – July for the fall season. Click over to the Registration page for the link to TeamSnap.
